Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions apply to all business transactions carried out by Rapid Plates.

The individual placing an advert or requesting a valuation on this website with Rapid Plates is hereinafter referred to as the ‘client’.

Rapidplates.co.uk/owner or administrator will be referred to as ‘Rapid Plates’, ‘us’, ‘our’ or ‘we’.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

It is the sole responsibility of the client to ensure that all the correct details are entered onto rapid plates internet forms and are submitted or given to the Rapid Plates representative at the time of the purchase.

In no circumstances shall Rapid Plates be made responsible for any failed purchases or disappointments. Rapid Plates liability is strictly limited to a full refund only (unless it is/was the fault of the client) and no claims for damages; interest on monies paid or any other expenses shall be entertained.

In the event that Rapid Plates is unable to submit the advert on to the website or provide a number plate valuation and provided that the client is not responsible for the failure, Rapid Plates will refund payment in full.

Whilst every attempt is made to ensure the fastest possible placing of adverts and providing number plate valuations Rapid Plates cannot guarantee any specific time period for the process.

Rapid Plates cannot accept responsibility for delays or errors caused by electronic mail, speed of internet connection, software compatibilities and any unforeseen circumstances or any failure or delay on the part of the client.

On submitting any forms on rapid plates you are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions.

Amendments can be made to all submitted adverts subject to the approval of Rapid Plates, amendments cannot be made to the registration numbers submitted on forms.

If you need to amend the registration number due to error this request must be made to Rapid Plates.

Registration numbers must be displayed correctly. To mis-space or mis-represent your letters or numbers in any way is an offence under the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1971. Subsequently all registration marks advertised by Rapid Plates are advertised on the understanding that they will be displayed in accordance with Section 17 of the Road Vehicles Regulations Act 1971.

The client agrees to comply with the DVLA ‘Cherished Transfer Scheme’.

You cannot make a vehicle appear younge than it is by changing the registration mark. For example; - you cannot put a  “T” prefix registration on a “s” prefix vehicle as it would make the vehicle appear younger. You can however put any prefix registration from “A” to “S” on a “S” prefix vehicle.

It is illegal to display a new registration mark before the transfer is completed by The Department of Transport.

All Registration Marks are sold subject to availability and although Rapid Plates check the availability of every registration mark before selling, we cannot accept any responsibility should the registration become unavailable or in the unlikely event of failure of the transfer at Vehicle Registration Office level. In these circumstances Rapid Plates will try and find a suitable replacement Registration Mark or refund the purchaser in full. Rapid Plates liability will be limited to a full refund (unless it is/was the fault of the client) and any claims for damages, interest on monies paid or any other expenses will not be entertained.

Any full or part payment taken on a registration mark is non-returnable (unless the transfer cannot proceed due to the fault of the transfer at Vehicle Registration Office level). If part payment is taken at the point of sale the balance will be due within 14 days unless alternative payment arrangements were made and confirmed by Rapid Plates in writing. Failure to pay the balance within the time limits will result in the forfeit of any monies paid and the Registration Mark will be placed back on the market.

Your rights under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 will be lost on accepting a contract to purchase any Registration Mark or any number plates bearing your company name under the ” BUILD” service.

Registration mark prices are subject to change without notice.

Number plate valuations carried out by Rapid Plates, are based on the opinion of Rapid Plates after carrying out the research outlined on the website, which can include requesting number plate valuations on your behalf from other sources.

The valuation provided by Rapid Plates is a current market assessment of the plates value on the basis it qualifies for the cherished number plate transfer scheme. Rapid Plates is not able to qualify if the plate can be transferred and therefore accept no responsibility for valuing a plate which is subsequently deemed to not comply.

All timescales quoted apply from Monday to Friday.

We sell Registration Marks owned by clients, Government Stock and our own stock.

The client for a Registration Mark must submit the correct documentation within three weeks of purchase of a registration mark, if they require Rapid Plates to transfer the registration mark to their vehicle. If the vehicle documentation is not received or is in any way incorrect, Rapid Plates reserve the right to place the registration mark on a retention document and recover any said cost from the client.

Should the transfer fail due to the fault of the client in any way, including not paying the balance or supplying the necessary documentation, Rapid Plates will not be liable for any payment to the seller, but we will, with their permission, advertise their registration mark.

Any Registration Mark supplied on a certificate will need to be transferred to a vehicle by the expiry date displayed on the certificate or the  client will need to contact DVLA to extent the certificate; this will be the responsibility of the client. There are some registration numbers that Rapid Plates will not be able to supply on certificates. In these circumstances, the client will be required to supply documents to allow such numbers to be transferred onto a vehicle. Some Certificates of Entitlement or Retention Documents can be extended by Rapid Plates but these are limited to those where Rapid Plates are the Purchaser on a certificate of Entitlement or Grantee on a Retention Document. If the certificate is one that can be extended, there will be a fee of £75 payable to Rapid Plates to extent the certificate, which will need to be paid before the certificate expires.

Many Registration Marks can be supplied on a Certificate of Entitlement within 3-5 working days, but other types of transfer can take 4-6 weeks and all transfers can take up to 12 weeks. Although we do often give you an idea the timescale for the transfer to be completed at the point of sale this can vary due to unforeseen circumstances. It should be understood that where we are advertising a Mark for a private seller, the Mark is held by the seller until the transaction is complete, and not by Rapid Plates, thus slow action on the part of the seller may occasionally cause delay. If we are unable to complete a transfer within 12 weeks of receipt of cleared funds and correct documentation from the purchaser a full refund of all monies paid will be made.

Once a transfer has been authorised by the Department of Transfer (DVLA Swansea), all liabilities will be rescinded by Rapid Plates.

It is the sole responsibility of the client to ensure that the correct details are entered when purchasing a registration mark online and when speaking to a representative of Rapid Plates. Phonetics should be used when referring to a registration  mark, as many letters of the alphabet sound similar on the phone.

Clients in Northern Ireland should be aware that if a Registration Mark is currently being held on a certificate, they may not be able to transfer directly onto a vehicle. The transfer of a Registration Mark to Northern Ireland may also take longer and involve extra fees.

Rapid Plates cannot accept responsibility for delays or errors caused by the postal system, e-mail, the Department of Transport, DVLA, any unforeseen circumstances or any failure or delay on the part of the donor or the receiving vehicles.

Any Registration Mark supplied on a certificate will need to be transferred to a vehicle by the expiry date on the certificate; this will be the responsibility of the client. Certificates of Entitlement or Retention Documents can be extended via the DVLA retention scheme.

It is the responsibility of the client to advise us to remove the advert if they are unable to do so using function in their account admin panel.

On occasion Rapid Plates may publish images depicting number plates that do not conform to current regulations. This will only occur when the image features a vehicle that actually bears a plate, or plates, that do not conform to regulations.
